The Inaugural Conference on Peace and Democracy in Asia Pacific and the World

September 26–27, 2025 | Korea University, Seoul, South Korea

Conference Theme: The Climate Challenge: Democracy, Governance, and Global Response

In commemoration of the 120th anniversary of Korea University and the 80th anniversary of the Department of Political Science and International Relations, we are pleased to announce the inaugural Conference on Peace and Democracy in Asia Pacific and the World, to be held on September 26–27, 2025, at the Department of Political Science and International Relations and the Peace and Democracy Institute at Korea University in Seoul.

This annual conference aims to bring together scholars of political science and international relations to discuss pressing global challenges and foster meaningful academic exchange.

In its inaugural year, the conference will focus on the politics of climate change. Climate change presents an urgent global challenge that intersects with questions of peace, democracy, and governance. This year’s conference invites research examining how climate change is perceived, politicized, and addressed across levels—from individual attitudes to national strategies and international cooperation. We seek contributions that explore the dynamics of climate governance, public opinion, and policy responses in diverse contexts.
